Veterinary Acupuncture

Acupuncture is defined as the insertion of needles into specific points on the body to produce a healing response. Each acupuncture point has specific actions when stimulated. This technique has been used in veterinary practice in China for thousands of years to treat many ailments and as preventative medicine. Research has been conducted showing positive results in the treatment of both animals and humans. At Pennsauken Animal Hospital, Dr. Corey Woodcock is our Veterinarian who performs this acupuncture.

Some Conditions That Can Be Treated With Acupuncture:

  • Pain and stiffness due to arthritis, disc problems, hip dysplasia, joint injuries, muscle pain or spasms
  • Respiratory problems such as sinus infections, bronchitis, pneumonia and asthma
  • Kidney disease and urinary tract infections
  • Intestinal diseases, such as constipation, diarrhea, vomiting and inflammatory bowel disease
  • Neurologic conditions, such as seizures, vestibular syndromes and facial nerve paralysis, and in some cases degenerative nerve conditions
  • General care of elderly pets to keep them feeling as well and as energetic as possible
  • Supportive care of injured and critically ill pets: relief of swelling and pain, increasing appetite and gut mobility, speeding wound healing and other supportive care
